Tom de Raad is a professional drummer and teacher based in the Netherlands. Groove, feel, and musical instinct are at the core of his playing. Rather than just playing parts, he focuses on what the music really needs and how he can lift it to the next level. With an open and flexible approach to sound, he always aims to serve the song and the moment.

As a drummer

 

As a drummer, Tom de Raad focuses on groove, feel and freedom in music. He brings a sense of trust and warmth to the people around him, both on stage and in the studio.

He is currently working with artists such as DEHAZE, SLOJAY, Lucy Fabienne, and YRSA, bringing a supportive and creative approach to each project. He has performed at festivals such as Roadburn Festival, , Desertfest and Valkhof festival.

Performances include renowned venues such as Melkweg, 013, Tivoli Vredenburg and has recorded extensively for a wide range of artists. When he’s not performing, he works from his own studio, When he’s not performing, he works from his own studio, recording and finding creative ideas for songs.

 

 

As a teacher

Tom de Raad helps drummers prepare for music studies such as conservatory and other professional programs. With his Rockacademie teaching license, he is able to offer students the opportunity to audition for the Rockacademie directly. He also teaches beginners, focusing on building a strong technical and musical foundation from the start.

Tom currently teaches at Drumlab Utrecht, where he works with both beginners and advanced players.
